Hope everyone has had a fantastic weekend. We have been lazy all day with the rain [which we are secretly hoping turns to snow tonight!], so I thought I would share with you some fun ideas for a wedding along with the weekend wrap up! Every bride is on a budget. And most Wisconsin brides prefer smaller, intimate weddings full of DIY to cut costs. I was so inspired by Brides Magazine this month and their cost cutting tips, so I thought I would share a few that are relevant to a northwoods bride!
1. Desserts for Cocktail Hour — What a great idea! Everyone loves dessert and you save a step for a post-dinner cake and cupcake. If you are concerned about your guests looking for something to satisfy their sweet tooth after dinner, I suggest an edible favors, such as monogrammed chocolate bars, or a small dish of chocolate kisses on each table.
2. Choose Alternatives to Fill Vases — Flowers are one of the most expensive items on your wedding checklist. If you are set on flowers over other alternatives, but have a smaller budget, consider adding more greens or branches to your centerpieces and decor. You can still wow your guests with unique vase fillers such as lemons or apples!
3. Postcard RSVPs — Brides today are taking advantage of technology by doing an online RSVP. This is great to save on postage, envelopes and paper, but it’s not all it’s cracked up to be sometimes. A lot of people forget or do not have access to the internet [think of your grandmother!], so you can spend a lot of time tracking people down. An alternative? Postcard RSVP’s! It’s so much more inexpensive than the standard RSVP cards/envelopes because you only have to pay for one card & postage is less! Also a great idea for save-the-dates!
Hope you were inspired by these fun tips! If you have any DIY cost cutting projects or tips, feel free to share with the nwc community by commenting or sending an email to email@example.com.
